Joint Solutions: eMAM, Apache Airflow, and Google Sheets
Streamlining Media Asset Management
eMAM completes testing of advanced workflows with Apache Airflow and Google Sheets
In today’s dynamic media landscape, efficient management of digital assets is paramount for organizations striving to stay ahead. The eMAM™ media asset management (MAM) system continues to lead the charge in providing innovative solutions for content management and distribution. Now, EMAM is proud to announce its integration with Apache Airflow and Google Sheets, media assets are orchestrated and managed.
The Power of EMAM MAM System:
eMAM has long been recognized for its comprehensive suite of tools designed to streamline media workflows, enhance collaboration, and maximize asset utilization. From storage and archive management to collaborative production and seamless sharing, EMAM empowers organizations to unlock the full potential of their digital content.
Introducing Apache Airflow:
Apache Airflow is an open-source platform that enables the creation, scheduling, and monitoring of complex workflows. By leveraging Airflow’s intuitive interface and powerful automation capabilities, organizations can orchestrate intricate data pipelines and streamline tasks with ease. eMAM’s integration with Apache Airflow enhances workflow efficiency, allowing users to automate repetitive tasks and optimize resource allocation. The Airflow platform has a nearly endless range of possible uses, integrations, and workflow configuration that could link bank to the eMAM managed libraries and associated workflows.
Seamless Integration with Google Sheets:
Google Sheets has emerged as a versatile tool for data management and collaboration. With its cloud-based infrastructure and intuitive interface, Google Sheets enables real-time collaboration and data visualization. By integrating with Google Sheets, eMAM users can seamlessly import and export metadata, streamline content organization, and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration. Sheets is widely used due to affordability and link to other Google tools and offerings.
Benefits of the Integration:
The collaboration between eMAM, Apache Airflow, and Google Sheets offers a multitude of benefits for organizations across industries:
- Enhanced Workflow Automation: Apache Airflow’s workflow orchestration capabilities enable organizations to automate repetitive tasks and streamline complex processes, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
- Improved Data Management: Integration with Google Sheets facilitates seamless data exchange and collaboration, empowering users to centralize metadata management and ensure data consistency across platforms.
- Scalability and Flexibility: EMAM’s integration with Apache Airflow and Google Sheets provides organizations with a scalable and flexible solution to accommodate evolving business needs and dynamic media environments.
- Streamlined Content Distribution: By automating content delivery workflows, organizations can accelerate time-to-market and optimize distribution strategies, ensuring timely delivery of content to target audiences.
A Workflow Example:
Schedule Studio Recordings Workflow:
An Airflow DAG* (Directed Acyclic Graph) is created to support Project Creation in eMAM
Google Sheets> AirFlow> eMAM workflow creates eMAM projects and Categories with related project metadata in the eMAM platform.
eMAM through Airflow, adds the Project ID to the project in Google Sheets
eMAM creates a unique ID for each project, which syncs the Google Sheets project and the newly created eMAM project.
Checking in Recorded Media:
A recording application (MOG/Net-X/Softron/Playbox/etc) is triggered by Airflow to perform a studio recording.
Airflow notifies eMAM about the new recorded media.
Media Ready for Review:
eMAM sends a Review and Approval request via an Airflow notification to the Project Manager as an eMAM Review-Approval link / Frame IO / email link/ or a link to a rendered sequence.
Review and Approval Status:
The Project Manager receives a notification via Airflow as to whether the media is accepted or rejected.
EMAM Delivery:
eMAM triggers a delivery of media via Airflow notification.
Archive Finished Media:
eMAM triggers the archive process.
Airflow will trigger SMTP/email notifications.
* Each workflow requires DAG to perform each task

Conclusion:
The collaboration between eMAM, Apache Airflow, and Google Sheets represents a powerful tool in the flexibility of media asset management. By harnessing the power of automation, orchestration, and collaboration, organizations can unlock new efficiencies, streamline workflows, and drive innovation in content management and distribution.
As the digital landscape continues to evolve, EMAM remains committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower organizations to thrive in an increasingly competitive market. With the support of Apache Airflow and Google Sheets, EMAM facilitates complex media asset management workflows, empowering organizations to unleash the full potential of their digital content.
